    Greetings! Thank you for joining us in order to preview an early pair of eyewear for any variety of collector and Steampunk artisan’s arsenal. Offered here is an original (circa 1940) AMERICAN OPTICAL Company leather side panel safety glasses, with the original metal snap case and paper insert. The “Golden Age” scientific grade opticals should be considered project pieces, where the leather side panels are detached from the stems due to brittle leather stem secures. The ear pieces show some dry cracking to the end caps (see pics). The lenses are great and the safety glasses have held up quite well; having been stashed away for generations within the durable snap case. A heavily worked pair of safety glasses, direct from the machine and tool shop to you. The photos presented here will provide the prospective bidder with an accurate visual description of the patina and age wear before placing ones maximum bid.
