East German HELMET Leather Liner Chin Strap

East German Helmet. This is from an estate sale where the owner had a large collection of them . I do not know what branch of the military this is from nor am I a military expert so please see all pics to tell the story. There is some chipping of the paint on the helmet and there is a leather liner inside as well as some sort of plastic one as well. The leather feels brittle and dry on the ends of the chin straps. This helmet is pretty heavy! Feel free to ask any questions prior to buying this is you wish and I will try my best to answer. thank you!
